An exceptional Louis XV period (circa 1750) mahogany-veneered mantel clock, with a dial signed "LEVEQUE à Paris." The dial features white enamel cartouches made up of 25 segments: twelve for the Roman numeral hours, twelve for the Arabic numeral minutes, and a central section bearing the signature "LEVÊQUE à Paris." The original movement, also signed "LEVEQUE à Paris," features silk-thread suspension and strikes the hours and half-hours; it utilizes a verge escapement mechanism. The gilt-bronze mounts, executed in the Rocaille style, are of exceptional quality. H x W x D: 84 x 38 x 17 cm.
