Battle scene, certainly the Battle of Sedan. In the foreground, we can see Napoleon III, generally dressed, surrounded by his staff and in the background, a cavalry charge. Note the brilliance of the dark blue cloth tunics and madder pants as well as the treatment of the powerful horses. No errors in the treatment of uniforms, it is a particularity of Perboyre to be faithful to reality. Perboyre Paul Émile battle painter born in 1851 in Horbourg near Colmar. French School Student of Bonnat, he started at the Salon of 1881, member of the French Artists, he obtained an honorable mention in 1908.
