"Miniature Lafayette 18th"
18th century miniature portrait painted in gouache of Gilbert du Motier Marquis de Lafayette (1757-1834), French officer and politician. He notably played a decisive role in the United States' war of independence against Great Britain and was appointed general at the age of 19 by George Washington. He then worked to renovate royal power in France before becoming one of the great personalities of the French Revolution with the drafting of human and citizen rights and command of the National Guard. He was also a major political actor in the July Revolution and the beginnings of the July Monarchy.
