Portrait of a Child as Napoleon Bonaparte, 19th Century FRANK THOMAS COPNALL (1870–1949) - one of a pair Large 19th century portrait of a boy as Napoleon Bonaparte, oil on canvas by Frank Thomas Copnall. A flagship example of Copnall's work representing a young boy in full length in the role of Napoleon Bonaparte. Superb quality and unusual portrait of the period with a communion piece which we also sell of the brother of the boy depicted as Lord Nelson. Original old gilded frame, signed. Dimensions: 63" x 37" framed approximately biography of the artist Frank Copnall has exhibited at the Royal Academy, London, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the National Portrait Society and the Royal Scottish Academy. He also participated in the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1930 and 1939. He was a member of the Liverpool Academy and the London Portrait Society, and was president of the Liverpool Art Club and the Liver Sketching Club. He may be the same as Thomas Copnall.
