Of German origin. Originally from Germany, Guillaume Kemp was based in Paris on rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine when, in 1757, he married Marie-Fancoise Peridiez, daughter and sister of master cabinetmakers. He passed his master's degree in 1764 and then worked on rue de la Roquette until the Revolution. A skillful and careful artist, his works, essentially in the Transition and Louis XVI style, with classic and well-proportioned lines, are always of very good quality, with perfect finishes.
