He stamped many small pieces of furniture with his large, clumsy characters: above all, small bedside tables, round, rectangular or oval.Jean-Pierre Dusautoy set up his workshop on rue de Charonne, where he practiced all his life. His furniture, in the Louis XV, Transition and Louis XVI styles, is of fine quality, with light, elegant forms. Louis XV and Transitional pieces are generally adorned with flower and lattice inlays, or plain veneers with contrasting wood frames. Louis XVI productions, with their simple lines, are made of mahogany, sometimes framed with bronze baguettes, which he used sparingly. On the whole, Dusautoy made small pieces of furniture, mainly bedside tables, round, oval or rectangular, with curved legs. (18th century furniture and cabinetmakers)
