"Renaissance Style Wallnut Cabinet"
Exceptional two-body cabinet richly and finely carved in solid walnut attributed to Maison Rabaillier.Pierre Ribaillier, or Ribaillier Aîne cabinetmaker, sculptor and antique dealer, he worked at 19 boulevard Beaumarchais in 1844 and at 34 in 1853.
In 1855, he entered into partnership with his son-in-law.
The company was located at 20 , rue des Filles du Calvaire then the factory; at 4 and 6 Rue Terneaux-Popincourt then transferred to Boulevard Richard-Lenoir.
Supplier to Napoleon III , he participated in the Universal Exhibition of 1855 and received a silver medal for a piece of furniture awarded and purchased by the Emperor in 1861.
He then received various official orders from Napoleon III , notably on December 21 at the Universal Exhibition for the Château de Saint-Cloud, a piece of furniture with two sculpted bodies and two large statues.
This impressive cabinet is of museum quality, the two sculptures next to the door are finely carved from boxwood.
