Important Camphor Trunk – Late 19th Century

The top of this trunk, made up of a single board, is decorated with a brass plate, straps and spandrel-shaped reinforcements on each of its corners. The front, sides and back each comprise a single board and are also reinforced with strips of different sizes and half-round brass corners. This chest has a brass boat handle as well as a functional original quarter-turn lock with key and recessed entry. Inside, a brass compass called a knee allows the lid to be held in place. A niche completes the left part of this large storage space. This chest is equipped with side stop handles for easy transport.
