Exceptional art deco bronze sculpture with polychrome patina by Romain de TIRTOFF (known as ERTÉ), famous artist considered to be the father of art deco.Painter, designer, draftsman and sculptor, Romain de TIRTOFF was born on November 23, 1892 into an aristocratic family in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
He immigrated to France where he created for 80 years in all areas of artistic and cultural life.
The pseudonym ERTÉ is derived from his initials RT pronounced in french.
IMPORTANT: This bronze comes from the personal collection of ERTÉ passed on to its beneficiary Serge LEEMAN, then by descent.
This is a rare "artist's proof".
In addition to its superb decorative appearance, this bronze has always remained the property of ERTÉ and then of Serge LEEMAN, which gives it additional historical and sentimental importance !
