Oil On Panel

We present this pretty oil on vertical panel, for us from the 17th century, representing a rider, a character in the center with a horn hanging at his side and the three characters in view on this panel all have metal helmets on the head. They could be Roman soldiers. This panel has been reinforced from the rear to prevent it from becoming rounded, given its narrowness. It was suggested to me that this type of paint was used as decoration in stagecoaches, should I take this into account? (E23) Ref. ................ RE479
