Katar Engraved Wrought Iron, Animal Heads, Velvet Sheath & Silver Wire, India 19th Century

Beautiful dagger typical of southern India, used for thrusting and piercing armor. This Katar, also called Katara, in wrought iron, comes with its original sheath, in purple and red velvet, decorated with a braid of silver threads. The characteristic hilt, in the shape of an "H", is engraved on the body and both ends with floral motifs, the top of the blade decorated with two animal heads. The blade, fine and very sharp, is adorned with a geometrically shaped engraving at its upper end.
Very good general condition, no break or lack, small detachment of the silver wire braid at the end of the scabbard.
Indian working, dating from the 19th century period.
