Norman Painted Wedding Chest From The Nineteenth Century Norman Painted Trunk Popular Art 19th Canu
Beautiful wedding chest with painted decoration of two fiery hearts under drapes, a bird, leaves and flowers. The interior, entirely covered in fabric, reveals, under the curved lid, the label of a lay box maker, Canu in Rouen. Normandy, first half of the 19th century. Dimensions: length 64 cm, depth 32 cm, height 29 cm. Side handles and hinges replaced, traces of restoration on the back, lock and key missing. The underside of the chest is covered with red felt. Good condition of presentation.
