"Writing Box In Precious Coromandel Wood"
English writing box in precious Coromandel wood signed "Fisher 188 Strand". 19th century. Fisher's was founded in 1838 by Samuel Fisher and traded at 188 Strand, London. They sold a wide range of items from travel bags and trunks to pool tables and stoves. Samuel died on March 9, 1890 and the business passed to his sons Robert Edward and Charles Alfred.
The open desk has a support surface covered in black leather with floral borders marked in gold.
Inside there are various compartments and 3 secret drawers which can be opened via a hidden (working) mechanism.
Working lock with key.
Complete with original glass inkwell.
Good condition, beautifully crafted object.
