"Tibet, End Of The XIXth Century-beginning Of The XXth Century, Statue Of Tara In Gilt Bronze."
Tibet, end of the 19th century, beginning of the 20th century, very pretty gilt bronze statuette depicting a Tara, female incarnation of compassion, seated in padmasana on a lotiform base. She is surrounded by a crown and holds in her right hand a vajra, the supreme weapon which leads to awakening by cutting the veil of illusions. The left presents offerings, a sign of respect, generosity and humility. Piece of very good quality by the chasing which highlights the beauty of the details as well as by the beauty of the original gilding which magnifies the whole. The base is closed by a sheet of hammered copper with a hollow motif of a stylized lotus flower in its center.
Height 19.5 cm. The scale indicator in the last photograph is a small model of a lighter from a brand known to everyone. Good condition.
