Cambodia, Khmer art, 1950s, large and superb statue of Apsara, dancer of the royal ballet, in carved wood. Represented standing on a pedestal, she wears traditional clothing and her head is surrounded by a crown. The position of the hands is characteristic. High quality creation acquired in the early 1950s in a store then renowned for offering high-end objects to Westerners with money and wealthy social classes. The establishment's label is still visible under the base (see penultimate photo). Height 59.5 cm. The scale indicator in the last photograph is a bottle of water with a capacity of 100 cl.
