Dish With Hen And Rooster, Kutani, Japan, Meiji Era (1868-1912)
A remarkable hand-painted dish representing a hen and a rooster under a cherry blossom tree. The animals, whose feathers have been ornamentally treated by the Japanese artist, walk on the grass caring for their young. Various ornamental friezes are depicted around the family. On the back of the container, expressive floral ornaments.
Porcelain enamel, hand painted and gilded.
Kutani, Japan, Meiji era (1868-1912). Signature as it appears in the photograph.

Very good state of preservation, slight paint rubbing.
