Note Book In Eglomised Glass, Charles X Period flag

Object description :

"Note Book In Eglomised Glass, Charles X Period"
Notebook "Souvenir" also called ball card. The dishes are in églomisé glass with a rich decoration of bouquets of flowers in gold. Green evening background. It has a gilt bronze mount, finely chiseled with garlands of flowers and strawberries. It closes with a spring, thanks to its original lead pencil, surmounted by a rosette. The interior, lined with "ivory" colored silk, contains a "souvenir" header, the twelve months of the year in polychromy, a weekly planner and its calendar dated 1821. The technique of églomisé glass dates back to Antiquity. It consists of fixing a thin sheet of gold under the glass. The decoration is executed in drypoint and maintained by a second layer, or a glass plate. This delicate process remains fragile over time and our notebook has kept its original state.
