"Denis Pierre Bergeret (1846-1910) ''still Life''"
Pierre Denis Bergeret is a French painter born January 19, 1844 in Villeparisis (Seine-et-Marne), author of still lifes (mainly shellfish) and kitchen scenes. He was a pupil of Eugène Isabey, Jules Lefebvre and Léon Bonnat. He exhibited in Paris between 1870 and 1908, especially still lifes. The composition of our still life is very successful, as if illuminated by a furtive ray of sunlight, the earthenware emerges from the darkness. In the darkness of the background and the entablature, Bergeret lets us see a rich material thanks to skilful transparencies and impastos. With this magnificent work, Bergeret places himself at the level of Guillaume Fouace, also a great specialist in culinary subjects.
This painting in its frame still bears the stamp of the Maison Lebrun founded in 1847, a specialist in old frames https://www.cadres-lebrun.fr/
