Wooden Christ, 18th century
The Christ is depicted dead with shut eyes, head slightly leaning right forward. He shows a muscular body with a thick torso, arms raised and outstretched, and legs hardly bent with superimposed feet. He wears a short perizonium held by a cord and knotted on left hip with a long flap. Shape of hair at the top of the head suggests that there was originally a removable crown of thorns.
Very good condition, some woodworm holes (see pictures).
