"Large Amputation Saw By Grangeret, C. 1780"
Large wrought iron amputation saw and octagonal ebony handle bearing Grangeret's signature and the crowned H hallmark. This allows us to attribute the saw to Pierre Grangeret (1731-1802), Louis XVI's cutler who was active during the second half of the 18th century in Paris. Beautiful original condition. Powerful contemporary blade measuring 3.6cm wide. A crack, without gravity, in the handle. The saw measures 51cm in length.
