Henri Nouveau born in Brasov, Romania, born to an architect father and a musician mother. Between 1921 and 1925 he studied at the music academy in Berlin. Around 1923 he frequented the artists of Der Sturm and began to paint, trying his hand at abstract geometry inspired by poetic surrealism. He traveled to Paris between 1925 and 1927 to study music. IN 1928, he returned to Berlin and discovered the Bauhaus with the works of Klee and Kandinsky. He settled permanently in Paris in 1929. In the1930s he created several lieder and chamber music. Later he will befriend Picabia, who will advise him to participate in the Salon des Réalités in 1946.
