Nude - Lady With A Pigeon, Georges Raoul Garreau (1885-1955), Bronze, Art Deco, France, 1920/30

Magnificent patinated bronze sculpture representing a seated woman holding a pigeon in her hand. The French art deco work is somewhat reminiscent of ancient Greek sculptures of goddesses getting out of a bath, often inspired by sculptors of the time, including, for example, the famous Aristide Maillol. But beyond the women, the style and texture of the sculpture definitely betray the modern style of interwar sculpture.

Georges Raoul Garreau (1885-1955) was a French sculptor, known for his many works in the styles of naturalism and orientalism as well as art deco. He mainly produced works in bronze depicting figures and animals, including seagulls, panthers and antelopes.

Height 44 cm, length 75 cm, width 20 cm. Dimensions without the marble base: H 40 cm, W 63 cm, W 20 cm.

Very good state of conservation of the sculpture. The base has been professionally glued, the corners are slightly chipped.
