An Oil On Cardboard, Collioure, Dated 1929
Artist: Trace De Signature
Very beautiful and fresh composition, very bright, representing Collioure
Below a signature difficult to decipher and dated 1929
Collioure is a small village in the south-west of France. Henri Matisse, quickly joined by André Derain, fell under the spell of Collioure during the summer of 1905.
Using "colors that come out of the tube", the two artists concentrated their palette on pure and lively tones - and thus established the bases of fauvism.
The Catalan port then welcomed other painters; seduced by the exceptional site, they like to meet at the Templiers bar.
