Two large Guanyins carved in the round in a very hard wood (iron wood) Guanyin originates from Avalokitesvara Commonly considered in the West as the Goddess of Mercy She is also revered by the Taoists as an immortal In China she is raised to the rank of divinity This name refers to the limitless compassion of Bodhisatva Avalokitesvara who leads him to observe the cries of suffering beings in order to come and relieve them of their pain She can have thousands of different forms Here we are, no doubt in front of the Guanyin "of sprinkling" standing with a jade vase in one hand and a willow branch in the other, wearing a bun and draped in a long dress that covers her to the feet "Jiushui Guanyin" China 19th c 105 and 102 tall
