Large fireplace in black Sablé sur Sarthe marble with a molded lintel ending on either side with a stylized rosette.
The lintel is supported by two molded legs and is topped with a straight shelf molded with a fillet on the 3 sides.
Nantes work from the Louis XVI period.
This marble from the region of Sablé sur Sarthe was used a lot in the region of Laval for the making of the altarpieces, in Versailles for the making of the marble courtyard and in Nantes to be used in the manufacture of many fireplaces which adorned the interiors of private mansions of shipowners and Nantes follies.
Good condition; tablet restored.
