"Fireback With The Arms Of France Dated 1581 (89x87 Cm)"
Beautifully crafted fireback, with lowered upper angles, marked DE COUSANCE and CE.3E.AP., dated 1581. Its ornamentation of architectural form is adorned with a decor of arcades, decorated with coins, carried by pilasters and consoles, housing the crowned arms of France inscribed in a triumphal hat worn by two trained greyhounds and surmounted by an Indian mascaron from the mouth of which come out two cornucopias. Plate cast in Cousances-les-Forges (Meuse), probably after the date inscribed. It should be noted a crack in the upper part. Its weight is 105 kg. You can visit our website: www.claudeaugustin.com
