"Woman of the desert", rare jug in red clay from Vallauris enamelled in glossy black, sculpted by Jean Marais (1913-1998).

Actor, director, writer, Jean Marais retired to the Alpes-Maritimes in the 1970s, first to Cabris where he spent fifteen years (a boulevard in the town near the house he lived in bears his name) then in Vallauris where he practiced pottery, sculpture and theatre. He opened a store there and even an art gallery thanks to a couple of potter friends.
