Tsugouharu Léonard Foujita (1886 – 1968), major figure of the School of Paris and the Roaring Twenties of Montparnasse where he arrived in 1913. He associated the art of calligraphy from his native Japan with European art and the avant-garde guards. Among his recurring motifs, we find the cat and the female nude. This advertisement created in 1928 for "Mon seul ami" (My only friend) by Parfum Isabey (26 Faubourg Saint Honoré in Paris): its design is typical of Foujita's aesthetics by its subject and the linear rendering full of grace. The copy presented here comes from the November 1, 1928 issue of the Parisian political and literary review "Les Annales".
