Object description :

"Norman Wedding Wardrobe In Oak And Mesh Oak, Lower Normandy, Early XIXth"
Sumptuous Norman wedding wardrobe in oak and mesh oak, manufacture from the beginning of the 19th century. Extraordinary work of sculpture on the whole piece of furniture: The cornice is finely carved with a tight network of beautiful ornaments in line, it overlooks a magnificent decoration of a couple of doves answering on a nuptial altar or a cradle surrounded by foliage and vine branches. The two leaves have a central decoration made up of medallions each representing the pair of birds staged. The door on the left shows them surrounded by garlands of roses, the door on the right presents them both placed on a cradle itself resting on a sheaf of wheat. The bottom rail is beautifully scalloped, it is decorated in its center with a bouquet of roses arranged in a woven basket. This basket is surrounded by the same decoration of foliage and vines as the upper crosspiece of the cabinet. The jambs of the doors are embellished with a decor of sunflower flowers. All these sculptures are magnificently enhanced with stylized embellishments: fine fluting, rows of pearls and beribboned rods. Our cabinet is in superb condition. Rare small wear. Superb patina.
