"Chest Of Louis XIV Period In Oak Wood"
Exceptional LOUIS XIV period chest in oak wood, with four columns on the front surmounted by a thick cornice supporting its top. The columns at each end are made of a single piece visible from the inside, the other two smaller ones are half-columns. The decoration between these two columns consists of flowers, foliage and other natural plants. In the center is a frame forming a gadroon decorated with a frieze of flowers, below is another frame with a quadrilobe pattern with in the center of colored wood inlays. The sides are paneled with flat strips, ending in half-columns formed in the same section as the rear uprights and in one piece. And all resting on a thick plinth with double overturned cornices, ending on four straight legs and square section. Entirely original chest, having undergone no transformations or grafts, it is in perfect condition. Note, only the hinges to open the tray are not original. Period mid-17th century around (1640/1650). Certainly North of France.
