Ghoum carpet, superb Indo-Persian measuring 139 cm wide by 239 cm long, hand-knotted around 1970 in very good condition.
The beginning of the manufacture of Ghom carpets in Iran was set up in this city around 1920/1930 on the initiative and perseverance of the knotters and merchants of Kashan.
Our model takes up the criteria of the Ghoum of Iran, as well as a very good quality of wool.
One finds besides, many resemblances, in the medallions and the borders with the Kashan type.

The manufacture in Iran of these beautiful, very resistant rugs is certainly recent. But the skilful and precise knotters as well as the "Ostads" cardboard designers have imposed their know-how thanks to the perfection of their work and the amplitude of the range of designs and colors.
# Second holiest city in Iran, 150 km from Tehran, Ghom is a major theological center.
The knot used is the Persian knot tied very tightly on a fine wool of very good quality.
The decorations of plants, flowers, intertwined plants and animals, as well as the use of wool mixed with silk is done regularly.
Each type of design remains stylized and the use of colors on the ghoum is always very harmonious.
Our model presents a geometrical medallion with flowers in ivory and rust, its turquoise blue field is covered with bouquets of flowers and interlacing. The set offers the impression of a Persian garden, flowerbeds, central fountain, alleys ...., classic Persians.
Marketing is done under several names: Qom, Ghom, Gom, Qum, Kum, and Ghoum.
