Antique Writing Slope, Napoleon III
Magnificent Napoleon III correspondence writing desk in excellent condition. 19th century.
The writing desk is made of precious maple burl and decorated with rosewood marquetry.
It opens with a small flap at the top, lockable. This opens onto side compartments containing 1 original crystal inkwell.
The small open flap allows the lower flap, which is larger, to open onto a leather top decorated with gold motifs.
The upper part, equipped with a tab, also acts as a flap that folds down to reveal a paper compartment.
Inside there is a dip pen, a small book and an old paper knife.
Period: Second half of the 19th century, Napoleon III.
Excellent condition after restoration of the old ruined velvet, replaced by leather decorated with golden patterns.
