Vallauris Ceramic Fish Manufacture Saltalamacchia, Aegitna

Ceramic fish from Vallauris,
I think of the sight of its morphology like a lionfish, with iridescent colors, palette of reds, greens to turquoise. Nice balance in the movement.
Good stability.
Tiny signs of wear (see photos)
Two stamps under the base: AEGITNA VALLAURIS & MADE IN FRANCE.
Period: after 1936 (trademark registered on December 6, 1936)
Height: 18.5 cm
Length: 28 cm
Width: 13 cm "The Saltalamacchia saga", Revue de la Céramique & du Verre, n°91, 1996, Nov.-Dec . , p.12-17. : Three generations of Saltalamacchia have succeeded each other in Vallauris. Placide, born in Messina on October 27, 1873, arrived on July 23, 1888 "to be a potter", according to the registration register, and his two sons, Joseph, born in October 1903 and Marcel Jérôme, born in October 1911. If Joseph enters in 1916 in the family business, it is because of the renewed favor that culinary pottery is then experiencing. In October 1920, Placide registered in the commercial register for his culinary pottery factory but curiously, he did not protect his "L'Incomparable" brand until December 1929. The second brand "Aetgina" was registered on December 6, 1936. The Saltalamacchia have always been very welcoming in their workshops; indeed, they allowed many sculptors to come and work in their workshops: Delahaye, Ambrosio, Jacques Lenoble, Roger Godchaux, Picq or even the one who called himself Thierry who was in fact Thierry Van Ruissevick.
