Spoon Olives, Silver, 18th Century
Beautiful silver olive spoon, uniplat model, Province, early 18th century. Silversmith and unidentified jurisdiction. The cuilleron is pierced in a square pattern, surrounded by foliage and dots. Weight 101g. Length 29.3cm. These so-called olive spoons were in fact most certainly skimmers which made it possible to separate the food from the sauce. They are found in almost all generalities, while olive cultivation was only done in the south east of France. Condition, good, scratches and traces of use, rare.
