"North India, First Half Of The 20th Century, Copper Bronze Temple Lamp Buddha Decor."
North India, first half of the 20th century, superb and unusual copper bronze temple lamp with brown patina. Buddha is represented on both sides in a standing position, the left hand raised and holding an accessory. Two dragons surround the statuettes by the top and the sides. A large square base supports the whole as well as four oil receptacles. A hook and a chain allow the lamp to be suspended in the temple to illuminate an altar. The set is of good quality. This temple lamp was collected in the 1960s in Chandigarh by the previous owner. Height 28 cm (46.5 cm with chain and hook). Width 27cm. Good condition except for slight normal wear and no impact.
