"Louis XVI Half Moon Console With 4 Feet In Carved & Gilded Wood With Gold Leaf Around 1780"
Beautiful console and large console in richly carved gilded wood with openwork belt in motids of oak leaves and hanging below wreaths of flowers. Rarer model, our console is not wall-mounted but rests like a table on 4 rudent fluted legs, the ends of which are decorated with acanthus leaves. Thick molded marble top with beautiful gray veining. Work from the Louis XVI period, 1780s. The model is rich and very carefully executed. The proportions are perfect and very elegant. Our console is a top quality part. Very beautiful gilding with gold leaf in matt and shiny. It is in excellent condition. The gold leaf gilding has been cleaned by our gilder. There is no accident. The very beautiful, perfectly preserved gilding suggests that the console was re-gilded in the middle of the 19th century, the marble (supperb) probably brought back at that time.
