"Paris 1789-1792: Exceptional Miniature On Ivory, Gold Frame"
Singular and remarkable octagonal-shaped miniature pendant in watercolor and gouache on ivory representing an elegant and handsome young man posing 3/4 outside with a tree-lined background and a cloudy sky. This distinguished Colombin of the French revolutionary period, with powdered hair, is dressed in a blue frock coat covering a yellow waistcoat, shirt and white knotted scarf. He is leaning on an entablature and holding his gloves in his hand. This admirable, original and anonymous work is preserved in its remarkable original octagonal frame in yellow gold, oak leaf hallmark (discharge hallmark in service in Paris from 1789 to 1792 under the management of Fermier Général Calandrin), with on the back an ornamentation of her braided and lacquered hair.
This realization was an affectionate, sentimental, and loving present. The miniature was doomed to be worn around the neck by a silk ribbon resting on the chest, not far from the heart of the soul mate.
