Portrait of a lady by Henri François Riesner (1767-1828), attributed .
This masterfully portrait of a noblewoman created at the beginning of the 19th century and attributed to the French portrait painter Henri François Riesner (1767-1828). Son of a famous Cabinetmaker to Louis XV and Louis XVI, he became a pupil of Vestier, Vincent and some say David. After exhibiting some works at the Salon in 1793, he became involved in the Revolution, a period which saw his family ruined. painting portraits and painted Napoleon in particular. He exhibited at the Salon until 1816 when he left for Russia, worked there for 7 years, painting the Emperor Alexander at that time. Back in France, he exhibited again, and in particular is the uncle of Eugène Delacroix. The museums of Moscow, Leningrad, Versailles, among others, show his works
