"Delft Doré, Circa 1700, Imari Decor Tea Box"
Small museum piece, this pretty rectangular Delft earthenware tea box offers 5 beautiful polychrome decorations, inspired by Japan, on a fiery blue, enriched with red, green, manganese, and gold on small fires. The palette is beautiful, enlivened by golden insects.Below, the famous "indeterminate signature" in red, circa 1700, which is most often attributed to the factory of Adrian Kocks ....
Tea boxes from this period are very rare ....
Condition of discovery, (I didn't want to touch it). Overall good, without breakage or cracks, it presents a chip on one edge, and another, limited, on an angle. Probably another under the rear pewter mount.
Charming and rare Delft!..... Take a good look at the photos .... 5.8cm x 4.2cm, Height without cover: 8cm.
