"Belgian School, Country Scene: The New Horse -a Done Deal! "
Post-Impressionist Lucien Leclercq (1895-1955) specialised in painting country scenes in his naive Wallonia in Belgium, and in Normandy in France.Village processions, harvesting scenes, haymaking, harvesting scenes were all depicted with empathy, and sometimes gentle humour and a little nostalgia. Our lovely horse buying scene - tiled on the verso by the artist in French -A done deal! - is an excellent example of this.
Painted circa 1920, our oil on panel measures 45 x 31 cm and is still in its original, large wooden frame. A beautiful work to display in in a country setting, notably for lovers of horses.
Overall framed size: 60 x 47 cm.
