A beautiful work by Jean Emile Oosterlynck (1915-1996) a Flemish Belgian painter born in Paris. It is a semi-abstract composition - have you noticed the windmill in the background, represented by a simple cross? - which almost gives the impression to be  stained glass. It is said of Jean Oosterlynck that "the ability to create an image that sticks in the memory is perhaps his greatest gift"  and our Don Quixote is utterly captivating and memorable. Oil on canvas, signed lower right and dated 1971. Good original frame. Dimensions 50 x 40 cm, framed 70 x 60 cm.
