Lois Hutton (1893-1972) flag

Object description :

"Lois Hutton (1893-1972)"
Lois Hutton (1893-1972) "Market day" Gouache on paper, dated on the reverse. Lois HUTTON is above all the emblematic figure of the dancers of the 1920s. Of English origin, she began "on Fridays of Dance" in Paris before opening "L'Autre théatre" in Saint Paul de Vence a few years later. Scott Fitzegerald, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Ernest Hemmingway or James Joyce are among those who frequent the unmissable theater of "La French Riviera". Dancer of the Avant-Garde but also choreographer and costume designer, she maintains privileged relationships with dancers and artists of her time including Pablo Picasso, Jean Renoir, André Breton and Salvador Dali. His Anglo-Saxon origins allow him to forge very close links with two English painters working in Saint Paul de Vence: John Ducan Fergusson and Leslie Hunter, whose influences are largely found in Lois' work.
