Small Buffet In The Style Of Viardot, Late 19th / Early 20th Century flag

Object description :

"Small Buffet In The Style Of Viardot, Late 19th / Early 20th Century"

The end of the French 19th century was enthusiastic about Japonism, inspired by the discovery of Japanese culture during the Universal Exhibition of 1867. The decorative arts but also furniture were the ambassadors of this new taste in which Viardot distinguished himself by a delicate production of furniture from which our little sideboard is inspired. We can recognize the asymmetry so characteristic of the Asian style, applications of bone and bronze evoking a fantasized Japan. However, we find in these small pieces of furniture all the bourgeois comforts of the 19th century: drawer, display case, shelf, storage and music box make this our little sideboard a lovely little piece of furniture in very good condition.
