"Engraving By Braun Around 1575: Cavalier View Of The City Of Blanmont"
Side view of the town of Blanmont, a Belgian town that has been part of the Chastre entity since the mergers of municipalities, located at the confluence of the Nile and the OrneText on the back of G. Braun.
the Civitates orbis terrarum (edited from 1572 to 1617) is made up of 546 perspectives, bird's-eye views and maps of cities around the world. Braun began working with Frans Hogenberg but was the main editor of the work, and he wrote the texts.
The six-volume work was inspired by Cosmographia by Sebastian Münster. In form and presentation it resembles Abraham Ortelius's Theatrum Orbis Terrarum.
Braun's publication set new standards in cartography for over 100 years.
