"Saint John The Baptist On Wood Panel 17th Century"
Interesting monoxyl work of a low relief sculpture representing Saint John the Baptist from the late 17th century. The almost oval-shaped walnut panel with a molded border and decorated on all four sides with a foliage pattern covering is treated entirely in its mass. In the center, a Saint John the Baptist holding his cruciform staff in his right hand and his left hand resting on his inseparable lamb. The representation remains a little naive but quite charming. Many old insect bites that have now disappeared, the holes were plugged, the whole treated then waxed. Remains of polychrome including the cross, the fabric and the hair. Summary but effective hanging by old perforation in the upper part. Note: very nice work of the sculpted border in imitation of a frame. Delivery: 10 € for metropolitan France.
