Jules Louis Berteault (xix-xxth) flag

Object description :

"Jules Louis Berteault (xix-xxth) "
very beautiful canvas by Jules-Louis Berteault titled on the back "winter weather on the coast of Algeria" signed and dated 1906 lower left. format without frame 27x46cm. It is therefore a magnificent post-impressionist and orientalist composition by this excellent painter of Swiss origin. As very often it represents the Algerian coast, here in 1906; as usual also he treats his motif with force and vigor, in particular thanks to a very powerful slightly divided touch and a very specific palette, fawn, made of mauve, pinks, blues, green green etc ... We do not know unfortunately that little about this excellent painter, except that he was of Swiss origin, that all the works known to date all date between 1905 and 1910, that he particularly liked two subjects, the Breton coast and Algeria. We find in his works a very strong similarity with the work of Henry Moret, perhaps he rubbed shoulders with it? His paintings are always very professional, therefore powerful and amateurs are not mistaken because he often achieves very good results at auctions. Finally, he also practiced watercolor with success. This canvas is in perfect condition, delivered in an old lacquered frame. Work guaranteed authentic
