Capucine clock from the Empire period circa 1800, this travel clock is the ancestor of the Officer's clocks. Rectangular quadrilateral in the form of a polished brass cage, it opens with two side doors revealing the movement and a rear door revealing the escapement. The white enamel dial marked with Roman numerals is signed by Espagnac à Toulouse. The Brequet needles with eccentric apples are accompanied by a third straight line devoted to the alarm clock. The dial is enclosed in a gilded bronze bezel encircled with chiseled pearls, lotus leaves and bundles. The set rests on four spinner feet.
