"German Porcelain Clock, Signed Kleemeyer"
Rare German clock with quarters and hours striking signed Kleemeyer, renowned watchmaker who worked at the court of Frederick William II of Prussia.
On the top of the porcelain case is represented a veiled woman, the higher expression of the female figure as she doesn’t personify only her carnal aspect but also her soul which has to be respected. In the left hand the figure holds the ouroboros, the snake that bites its own tail, a symbol of the cyclical nature of things which, whenever they reach their end, start a new beginning again.

The name of Christian Ernst Kleemeyer (1766-1785) is mentioned in the Baillie dictionary.
