Offering Dish Gothic Quest Copper Germany Nuremberg XVIth flag

Object description :

"Offering Dish Gothic Quest Copper Germany Nuremberg XVIth"
Offering or quest dish *, in finely chiselled repoussé copper, decorated with a rosette or umbilicus in gadroons, surrounded by German Gothic inscriptions, as well as small fleur-de-lis stamped on the edge, from the 16th-17th centuries century. This dish is in good condition, it is in its own juice. The inscriptions are: "Wart Gelk ALzetem"? (difficult to read). A note: it is pierced in a few places (1 in the center, 3 on the edges), some dents and normal wear see photos. * This is an offering dish, of which around twenty examples are listed in Brittany, but which are especially widespread in southern France. The Gothic inscriptions they contain are in Latin, and more frequently in the Germanic language, which suggests that they came from workshops in Nuremberg or the Mosan region active in the 15th and 16th centuries.
