Carved Bottlenose Dolphin From The 19th Century, Art Brut, Folk Art flag

Object description :

"Carved Bottlenose Dolphin From The 19th Century, Art Brut, Folk Art"
Imposing sculpture representing a dolphin in the spirit of imaginary 18th century sea monsters.
This is an important monoxyl sculpture, only the fins have been added.
This sculpture is quite impressive, with particularly careful details: the mouth, the eyes, the scales, the fins all these details are finely treated.
Excellent general condition and very beautiful patina.
The sculptor in a rather naive manner carved the tail with complex windings and complications.
The mouth contains a small secret drawer.
The top of the tail has a tray on which you can read the streaks of the wooden trunk.
A single block of wood therefore composes this sculpture which is all the more very heavy.
The set rests on a blackened wooden base. A sculpture therefore very surprising, a unique piece in the taste of the works of a horse factor, a creator of raw art or popular art.
An ideal sculpture to decorate your interior or your cabinet of curiosities.
